Default Senior "Q" 2011

October, Senior Q month, is fast approaching. We are still in need of volunteers to organize 1 or 2 Senior Q events. The past 2 yrs have been a huge success and hopefully we can continue that roll.
As a reminder, all you need to do is contact a Senior facility, preferably between
25-100 residents and set up for GLBBQA members to furnish lunch one afternoon. The GLBBQA provides funding for food and supplies. I can give further specifics once location(S) are set.
Who is going to step up to the plate this year???

Thanks
Scott

I called Mike and left him a voice mail about this, but he is way too busy to call me back.

I have a call in to a facility here in GR and am waiting for the approval from their Executive Director.

Does the GLBBQA pay for the plates, cups, beverages, and utensils or are these normally picked up by the facility?

In the past, the facility furnished the drinks, plates, utensils, etc.. because they normally would be using them, we are the substitute food furnishers for that specific lunch.
Please keep me posted.

Thanks
Scott

Good deal! I know the Chef at Porter Hills here in Grand Rapids, so i talked with him about it but he needs to get the go ahead from their Executive Director. If i don't get a response soon, I will move on to a different center.

I have not been involved in the Senior Q in the past but am interested and will talk with the director at Independence Village in White Lake. So I am on the correct page the facility provides silverware, plates, drinks, etc and we provide the meat and the sides?

Bill, we can provide everything if needed. Typically the facility does have all of those items that they use on a daily basis, however if they do not and we need to provide those it is not a deal breaker.

Bill,

I have a whole box of plastic silverware packages that we got from GFS when we did the original Senior Q that you can use if they don't have silverware.

Like Mike said, the facilities have their own kitchens, utensils, etc..that they use on an everday basis to feed the clients. We just cook and serve.
Now, many clients have special diets and cannot eat certain foods so the staff keeps track and last year we filled each plate individually for each individual client in accordance with the dietary technicians approval. In the event a client could not have beans or slaw or pork or whatever, the facility filled in that portion of food with their own.
