1 or 2 pounds of ground beef and/or ground pork
Cook in a frying pan and drain fat. Place the cooked meat back in a pan add 1 large onion cut in slices 1 large can of diced tomatoes Simmer on low for 30 minutes Add the cans of beans - drained and rinsed. I buy all the different kinds of beans they have on the shelf. Sometimes you’ll have to look for the butter beans in the canned vegetable’s shelf and the Lima beans (frozen). It’s your preference what you want to cook or find. The more the better! Example 1 can Pinto beans 1 can Navy beans 1 can light and/or dark Kidney beans 1 can Lima beans 1 can red beans 1 can butter beans When all of the beans are in the pot cooking add barbecue sauce until the consistency is thick and not too soupy. You may want to add brown sugar, salt, pepper, mustard or Worcestershire sauce (optional). I make this by taste. I have even put bacon in the beans. Diced and lightly fried and added to the bean mixture. Just be creative and have fun. Simmer 30 - 45 minutes until the beans are soft. Sometimes the bottom will burn so stir often. Crock pot will take longer to cook. |
