Yes, then outlaw pellets and charcoal and electricity and left handed brisky cookers, etc, etc, etc!

Well I agree with you in principle, but for a non KCBS contest I say let them cook on whatever they want to cook on. Heck bring a generator and a microwave and try your luck.

As the old saying goes it is a meat contest. Not a cooking apparatus or cooking style comp, especially for a grilling contest...

I do agree with Bubba with the point that he makes about it not being about the apparatus or cooking style. I dont want to exclude anyone from entering the competition. I will look closely at the rules and consider changing them. If the judges agree to allow parboiling then we will consider it. If those that dont agree with parboiling want to respond to this and give me a good reason not to consider it, then I would like to hear it. I did not realize that this was such a touchy subject. Hope to see everyone at the event.

Honestly Rod, were just havin a little fun with this.
I agree, it's the finished product, not how it's cooked. With the judges your getting, i think they'll know the difference in boiled ribs and grilled ribs.
Wish we could make this one, sounds like a lot of fun!
Good luck!

I don't think I would want to sample too many par-boiled ribs.
