A little more progress. Reinforced the lower portion of the chute with 1/4" stainless plate. Takes a lot more time to cut and fit than I expected. Stainless is really tough.

Do I need add another 1/4" plate around the base? As it is it is 3/8" thick. Stainless takes a lot of heat to weld. I switched over to the mig using .035 wire for the bigger welds. Any thoughts?

Finished up the ash box and joined with the chute and transfer tube. Finished welding up the 1/4" stainless steel.

I am thinking that if I put a 1/4" carbon steel plate over the 1/4" stainless that it will help hold the shape. I have been warned that the stainless will warp big time. Does anyone know if this will work?

Jerry this is great. What are you going to do with your pit you had for the past three years?

I have not thought that far ahead. Perhaps it needs a new home? Shane and I have been discussing some mods. Time will tell.

Been looking a a Work and Play Toy hauler. After Silver Lake I lost the tent. Or at least that is my story and I am sticking to it.
