It has been a few years since I have been up to Traverse City and figured I would take Brandy for our anniversary next weekend and hit all of the wineries.
We know there is a wine and food festival next weekend but to me that sounds like a bunch of snooty people sitting around talking about art and the worlds economy which doesn't sound relaxing.;)
Any new restaurants or attractions i should see or visit other than Derek's house? :p

Fish Town is a little spot on the dock area, good smoked fish there.
The Grand Traverse Resort is a really nice place, a bit out of town but down the street from the casino, a little pricey but they do have some specials now and then.
Hope you have fun.

I appreciate the offer but don't think brandy is going to think your parents house is a very romantic place for an anniversary dinner. :)

It's nothing to do with you personally Derek, he is looking for a get away with his wife to spend some time. Not to meet new people. Don't take offense but the sugestion was funny as Hell to me as well.

What a fun place to go and relax. The town seems to get busier every time we go. We stopped at a dozen or so wineries and ended up bringing home a couple cases.
Any of you ever tried icewine? Wow....it is really good.
Derek - I seen the culinary school and it is a beautiful building right on the bay. Very impressive. They even had a banner outside that said "Welcome Pile -O- Pork BBQ"

Glad you guys had a very good time.
Did you go to the winery that's half way into Sutton's Bay off a side road?
If you did, then you were 1 mile away from my house Rich.
"Note to self" Become more friendly, relax a bit.
Maybe some of you guys will actually come over have some Q :)

I am not sure Rich?
However what I've heard is that Madonna's ( the singer ) Dad's owns it.
I will be more upbeat about wine as soon as I start class next week!
By the way Rich, you're right It's a beautiful place.
That's where I will study until winter time though!

There are 7 wineries in suttons bay. We stopped at shady lane , willow, ciccone, mawby, and another one on 22.
BTW ...there are selling drums for $5 next to culvers.

I would bet ciccone is the one owned by Madonna's father, as that is her real last name...

That is an interesting. We didn't actually sample anything at that winery since they only serve dry wines.

Myself, personally in college, was a T J Swan "Stepping Out" on a friday night kind of guy. But after a night of that, there was no need for a sat. night! But on occasion, Philadelphia Whiskey, was a poor substitute for a good sat. night.

I used to think the same thing but that is only a small group and then there is a group like me that would rather have a Bud Lite but will drink a glass of wine from time to time.

I think I am a little offended here, my wife is wine connoisseur and I enjoy a glass of red every now and then. It is not good to generalize...

Nothing better with brisket than a good glass of cabernet sauvignon.....but then when you change the menu to pork or chicken I am absolutely a bourbon guy! Right now I have a chicken on the WSM and some good bourbon on some ice in my glass
