Everyone did very well dealing with the weather from what we could see. Ford was a real champion for dealing with everything and still getting a couple calls.

We thought Troy was a shoe-in for GC or RC once he got two first place calls, but he did get knocked on his "butt" - hard to figure unless you just get a table of judges that don't like your product. That is the hardest part of the circuit is the subjectivity of judges. Troy has proven that he can pull out quality product consistently, but judges can give you a second one week and a 39 the next?

Rib caption was really tight. Even though we were in 28th, we were only 11 points away from the first place team. We placed higher in pork and brisket, but were much further away in point spread.

One of the cool things was that we had a one guy come all the way from Elgin, South Carolina...Redneck Cookers. It's great to see folks from all over the midwest, and the rest of the USA who all love to get together and make some yummy que!

So, I judged the Taste of Grand Rapids both Friday evening and Saturday noon.
Following the judging, I made the rounds a bit, trying to make some connections& doing some BSing. This is usually a busy time as many of the teams are busy packing up.
I was able to visit with a fellow pellethead Ron from Captain Ron's Brew-n-Que (Batavia, IL).
Also did a quick 'Hello' to the Cancer Sucks Team as they were packing up.
Did manage to snap off a few pictures and I'll attempt to drop some at this topic. We'll see if I can make it work.
