Anybody use this guy for firewood before? I bought a face cord from him yesterday of hickory with a little cherry thrown in...Paid $135-he delivered and unloaded-seems high compared to other types of wood...I called on a few places on craigslist and one guy wanted over $200 for a face cord of hickory...
Anyone else find anything better on hickory/cherry??

I bought a face cord of hickory from him a couple of years ago. $95.00 if I remember correctly. He hangs out at Eastern Market, maybe you could get a cheaper price if you pick it up there instead of him delivering.
Watching Craigslist this past winter, I've seen hickory a whole lot cheaper than $200.00 a face cord. Maybe wait till this fall or winter to restock your supply.
Wasn't there a guy posting on this board that lived in South Lyon or somewhere out that way that could get all the hickory he wanted?
Check out Franks Firewood in Canton. They always have cherry, and usually have hickory and apple.

I tried to get face cords there but all they sold were chunks of wood in a bag. OK for a smaller smoker.

A face cord being 1/3 a full cord, $135 seems pretty steep.
I got that much hickory delivered for $60 here in Milan last month.
John-
There have been a few times that they (franks) only had chunks when it came to hickory and apple, but every time I go for cherry I can get a 1/2 cord with no problems.
