OK,
Listed so far for June are the Modern Cookoff on the 13th and Auburn Hills on the 26-27.
Anyone committed to either of these events or know of any others that we can post about?
As part of my newly appointed marketing responsibilities I would like to get some members involved in promoting the GLBBQA by stuff like hanging the GLBBQA banner on their cooking site or maybe setting up a table with applications, etc...
Thanks a bunch.

John,
thanks, no need for any event to have to be KCBS.
Any of our members vending the event?

Scott,
Here are a few ideas for Marketing the GLBBQA...
1) Sanctioned contests (I would be interested in displaying a banner)
2) Local food cook-offs/city wide events, taste fests, parades, etc
3) At any outreach event that someone from the GLBBQA volunteers (for a non-profit event, for a fund raiser, etc) like the Dayton, OH event for the less fortunate
4) Send write-ups of how the GLBBQA was involved at the events to the local newspapers, etc
5) Partner with a supplier in each major supply area that barbecuers need (i.e. meat, spices, bbq equipment, etc) and make sure both parties get something out of the partnership-I know we already have some of these in place
6) Post event info on Facebook-this is free!! Let people "Become a Fan of the GLBBQA" on Facebook-this way people can invite friends to become fans other than just trying to collect everyone's individual emails...Increases fan base by word of mouth...While you are on Facebook, you can become a fan of Pappy Medley's BBQ while you are at it (shameless plug)!!
7) Set up a yearly/quarterly marketing plan for 2010 and see where there is not much activity-then plug the holes...Communicate the upcoming quarterly activities each quarter...
I think a lot of things on this list have been done, just wanted to throw some ideas out there and maybe other people can bounce ideas off of you on these forums as well...I think by the amount of events we are seeing for this bbq season that things are headed in the right direction!!
