Hey Everyone,
Got a great opportunity for some of you looking for your ServSafe food service certification and to serve your community. Genesis the Church in Royal Oak (the church that hosted the last KCBS CBJ class) is going to be involved with the Arts, Beats, and Eats Festival in Royal Oak (Sept. 3-6)collecting leftover food from the vendors and providing it to Forgotten Harvest for the less fortunate.

Anyone who commits to 3-6 hours of volunteer time during Arts, Beats, and Eats in Sept. can attend a special Food Service Manager Certification course that will be held at Genesis the Church on June 27th in Royal Oak (309 N. Main St)-this course will be required to volunteer to collect the food during the Arts, Beats, and Eats. The course will be FREE to volunteers and will be a condensed class during the afternoon. Normally, this is a 2 day course that costs a couple hundred bucks.

I should have some more details soon, but anyone interested can let me know (PM me your name, email, and phone number and I will make sure you get on the sign-up sheet).

Jason,
that is a good deal, looked into it as a class the association would put on during the winter months. Its a good certification to have.

I believe there will be an email that goes out about this next week. I know it is going to be from 1:00-4:00 on June 27th and they are providing the materials at the class.

So far, I sent the contact infoalong from Chris, Scott, and Tom. If I get any other info tomorrow, I will post it...

I wanted to give a quick update on this...

The church had told me this was going to be a Serv Mgr Certification, based on info they received from Forgotten Harvest. After hearing this was only going to be a 3 hour class at the church, I started questioning whether this was the full blown ServSafe Food Service Mgr. After a lot of emails going back and forth between me, the church, Arts/, Beats, and Eats, and Forgotten Harvest, this is only a single event certification for the Arts, Beats, and Eats. It is not the ServSafe Food Service Mgr certification.

My apologies for the misinformation. You are more than welcome to attend the course this Sunday from 1-4 at Genesis the Church in Royal Oak (309 N. Main St) to help volunteer for the Arts, Beats, and Eats (which will provide leftover food to Forgotten harvest for the homeless), but please do not feel obligated to attend the training or volunteer for the event. I am also sending an email to the people who had said they were interested...
