Bavarian Smoke participated in the DegaQ contest last year and got a email from Smoke On the Water Productions who is putting on the NASCAR BBQ events.
I have been in touch with them and they emailed this information for GLBBQA members who enter the contest. They need us to help promote their event and in return will do this:

In simplest terms my request to the GLBBQA is to help promote, to your
members, the barbecue contest in August at the Michigan International
Speedway. I could give you all the information and you would broadcast it
to your members. In return for your help, we are proposing a separate cash
prize to be awarded to the GLBBQA member with the highest score overall at
the contest. This would give recognition to the GLBBQA during the awards
ceremony and bring additional attention to one of your member teams. We
would ask you to give Smoke on the Water Productions a list of GLBBQA
members, in good standing, present at the contest. We would work from that
list to determine the GLBBQA winner. If you have a different idea how the
GLBBQA would like to participate we would listen. You can find additional

This event will be an annual event and to have the GLBBQA involved can only
secure the future of BBQ and NASCAR in Michigan.


So how cool is that, a seperate GLBBQA contest within their contest.

That is awesome for the GLBBQA and a brilliant marketing move on their part.

I have never been to a NASCAR race before so I am in.

We competed in the Dagaque contest last year and had a great time and meet alot of people all over the states. Alot of activities and concert to go see at a Nascar event. Paying for the contest also gives you two tickets to the race. This is big time for GLBBQA this year to have this in our backyard.

Richard is right. There will be alot of big name teams coming to Michigan for the first time. Hopefully we can beat them in a nice way. Oh, and they had really nice hats too, Richard has one from Dagaque,
Maybe they will name this one MIS-Q.
