It is only a couple miles away so i am thinking that I am going to do it if there are enough volunteers for the bbq for the troops.

This grand Rapids Grill off, I can grill anything?

I've been looking at the rules and I don't see where you can choose which category to do?

or read here.

10. There will be three rounds. Round one will be the Steak Round. Each team will receive two 1 1/4" thick New York Strips. One steak is to turn into judges and the other is for tasting by the team. Round two will be the Rib Round. Each team will receive a rack of ribs. Both of these rounds will be judged on presentation, taste, texture and color. Round three is the free style round, Dubbed the Grills Gone Wild. In this round teams may choose any food of their choice. Round three will be judged on creativity and uniqueness of the food as well as taste, appearance, and presentation.

Don't forget Derek, it's also a grilling contest so you'll need something more than your WSM. ;)

I cooked it last year. They have space, I'd just talk to Rod ahead of time. The Smo Sco's and myself had our rigs there.

You have enough time to smoke your ribs. I want to say turn-in is later? I don't really remember. As for the Chef's Choice. Whatever you wan to do.

This is my any goes entry from last year. Even included a little tequila for the judges..

I hope to be able to make it back this year to defend...

Scottie told us in his class that we all have shigging permits for life. ;)

After those scores at Liberty, I need to learn that technique on ribs again for sure.

Gosh, I'm really really torn if I want to go to the grill off.

I will have just enough cash for the comp. but there is a small voice telling me build up the out door kitchen more until you have everything you need.

GRRRRRR!

Kidding. I want to go to just rib fests for now, so I may wait.

Thanks Rich!

I've thought long and hard I need to build up my comp kitchen, get the smokinator & the ribulator for the rib fests, also learn to trim ribs, tear the membrane off ...

Derek, are you cooking in this one? It is Saturday week. I think Chef O might be one of the judges. At least he was last year! Very Interesting Man!!

If you are not cooking you should at least check it out while they are judging.

We had a blast last year! Nice people!

Heck Derek,
you could use our Smokey Joe for that one! If I remember right they give you the meat.

It is sponsered by Weber! We used a Smoky Joe and a 22.5 kettle. It is a grilling contest. I am almost certain Ron would still let you in. and Like Scott said they provide most of the meat.
