I was thinking about setting up a little site for the team this year, and wondered if any of you (that have a site) would share who you do your web hosting with, who you used for web site design, etc. I was looking at Go Daddy, yola, webs, homestead, etc. for a free site, but wanted some feedback (good and bad) on your experiences.

Thanks

I had a site for a couple of years hosted by go daddy and thought it was exceptionally slow.

I have been using Squarespace.com to host my site for the last year or so and there service includes the ability to pick your website theme and an architecture piece to add blogs and other pages to your website.

I usually don't tell anyone about my site because it is for my family that don't live close to see photos of my daughter and for me to log some of my smoke sessions.

I only spent 10 - 15 minutes on the layout and look of the site so don't judge them by my design skills. :p

You can try it free for 14 days to see if you like it but the prices range from $8 for the basic, $14 pro, and $20 advanced and on up. I use the pro version.

The one thing that sets Squarespace apart from other hosting services is that they have this software that allows them to move websites from server to server based on the traffic it is receiving. What that means if your site gets on a server with a very popular website they will move you or them to another so it doesn't effect your speed. I have never had a slow response on my site.

I use dreamhost for my websites. They're pretty good and have standard software installs to make things easy. They're just not backup pros. I don't have anything up that I wouldn't mind much starting over from scratch.
