And it makes about 2 mason jars for later use!

Derek,
Heat is good but there are many kinds of heat. I would suggest dividing the "pepper" content into 1/4's and use 4 different peppers. That way the heat will hit you at different times during the taste process.

ScottThanks Sf, I will remember that. And that's 4 teaspoons of Cayanne, My mom who helped me double my recipe forgot to tell me that the cayanee was suppose to be a teaspoon. But everything else is right.

I personally would add some white pepper for that nice after bite. Does sound pretty good!

Lots of TV networks show reruns this time of the year. Maybe Derek is doing that too? :)

I'm confused:confused:
Why? Play the #4, 8, and 32 in Keno. It's obvious! 2 mason jars- kicker!

I would highly suggest you cut the amount of Cayenne by half and use a different pepper. Something to help with your flavor profile. At this point all you are going to taste is heat. I understand that you are trying to be hot, but there are ways of delivering heat without sacrificing flavor. Also, How much Nutmeg? 4 ground nutmeg seeds is A LOT of nutmeg...

Thank you Thomas.
I don't use this rub anymore.
I reversed engineered my rub to be come a sweet rib rub.

You reverse engineered your own rub? That makes no sense...
Typically, you would find a rub you like and reverse engineer that to break it down into the individual constituents that can be reproduced for your own uses.
I think you meant that you reformulated that recipe into a rib rub....of course I could be wrong.

and some of you can't figure out why the judges scores are so erratic.....now you see some of what we get to deal with, every day a different "formulation" of a basic rub....no way to get to consistency!
