I'm glad to finially find others in Michigan with the same hobby as me. I've been on several other Q forums but have just found this now, thanks to Rich. Well I'm Shane, I have two propane smokers right now, one is a GOSM the other is a homemade stainless smoker with controls from the sausage maker on her. She is perfect for sausage making and is for sale right now if anyone is interested. I'm in the process of building one on a trailer. It's 120 gallon propane smoker with a 24x24 fire box and a 48x20 rib box. This one will be reverse flow and there will also be a sink with hot and cold running water on the trailer along with two deep fryers, wood box and a additional stainless prep area. I'm hoping to have this all done buy your spring thaw cook off, if not I'll be there anyway just to try to learn. I've never competed before but I'm looking forward to it this year. Hope to get to know you all soon.

Yes that is my smoker on Craigslist and I'm not too bad at chicken but like I said I haven't been to a competition so I'm not sure what they are looking for. I'm originially from Bad Axe up in the tip of the thumb, now living in Marine City and working in Chesterfield. I'm a machinist that specializes in process improvement. I can program all aspects of CNC and run just about anything they let me get my hands on. Glad to be here and will put some pics on soon of my build. Have a great day!

I'm in the middle of a pretty large build. I want a reverse flow but I would like to put my rib box on the opposite end of the fire box. Could I accomplish this by using 2 plates in the bottom of the main chamber so in effect the smoke and heat would be making a S shape before entering the rib box. It makes sense to me and I believe it would maintain very consistant heat due to the fact that there would be 2 3/16 plates that it would be heating up in the main chamber. Please give me your input. Below are pics of us burning it out last night. I allready have the tank cut to put the rib box above the fire box but I can weld that hole back closed.
