Yes, I typed YALL....I recently moved here with my wife Jennifer to be closer to the kids and grandkids. Originally I am from Athens, GA but spent the last 10 years or so in Fort Walton Beach, FL. I cook on my Lang 60 and a Weber Performer. Love my stickburner! Went to Ben's and picked it up about 4 years ago.

I am looking forward to getting to know some of you fellow Q'rs and learn a little about the difference in midwest Q and my old fashioned Southern slow-smoked Q. Hopefully this will be the year I finally take the plunge and form a competition team.

Why do the BBQ comps not start up here until June? I been cooking outside at least twice a week since October and plan to cook chicken tonight for the daughters 35th birthday.....man I love a good excuse to build a fire and open a bottle of good bourbon!

Hmm sounds like yer gonna fit right in ;{)

Comps are tough in the winter... unless you have a trailer/motorhome, etc... it's hard to do a brisket at 10°.

Come up to the Eagle practice cook..it's a blast and it'll give ya the "comp" feel.

Welcome, and yes..we Q low and slow here too ;{)

Welcome Bill!

I am with you - I don't think it is that cold. But we would probably be cooking alone. :D

Take lots of pics of that grub!

welcome! winter comps here..... the turn in box would be frozen solid before it even hit the judging tables! i have cooked in -15 deg w/out wind chill a few times on camp trips and its really not that much fun. keeping my beer on the campfire so it doesnt freeze up as soon as you open it is challenge enough. even in april we can get freezing temps and lots of snow.

welcome Bill, you will fit right in here. Lang and Bourbon, two things that definitely go together.
