I heard a rumor that they may forgo this event, Gotta hope not. It was well into June of last year before they gave the go-ahead for '09.

Are they saying money issues are the reason? It is one of the most popular events so it seems like attendance should be high.

Attendance is huge.....but free.

The towns not making much money there except on swag and trinkets.

...and I'm sure that the Sheriff's Department is billing Jack Daniels for their off-duty officers to work the event and that can be an expensive proposition; And Jack Daniels is owned by a large corporation now where many decisions are based on the bottom line not on tradition and feelings of the heart.

Would hate to see it go, would be shocked if it did, but would not be surprised.

Well we will all just have to travel to Kentucky instead to the Jim Beam comp. I am sure someone knows me there that can show us a good time.

But...Beam is BOURBON :{)

I'd be shocked to see the Jack fold, but as was stated... bottom line.

Tell that to us little guys spending $150 -200 to do a local comp. And gladly usually :{)

Sad.

As a squire, I was trying to estimate the amount of money that was made at the squires breakfast.... how many of us bought multiple collectors bottles.... how many others made good purchases.... I don't think Brown Forman ends up taking out a second mortgage to put on that event. Oh... and how much do you think is sold at the general store.... I think it's a good weekend for the community.

Sorry.. forgot this... And how much do you think BFI spent on just one Nascar race...... The Jack is a drop in the bucket for them.... If it is ever ended... I don't think it is over the money.....
