Yeah, I have my calendar marked.
When Myron and I were talking at the Jack he said he had to leave for awhile and do some filming for that show. The ad's on the food channel look pretty good.

I am too old to stay up that late but I will be taping it.

Scott - Will you be in the background seasoning Myron's ribs?

I was watching the promos last night and heard how Myron uses charcoal with lighter fluid to get his pit up to temp and only puts his pork butts and brisket on the smoker 7 hours before turn in.

I have never heard of cooking pork butts that fast and only hear people say "blasphemy" when others mention lighter fluid.

What am I missing here?

Rich,
I believe Myron likes to cook pretty much everything except whole hog hot and fast. He won't let me divulge his secrets.
We will learn the truth tonight!!

I don't personally know him so maybe Scott can chime in but I think he is acting that way for the cameras.

In his interviews he talks a lot of crap but then will turn around and hug on Johnny Trig and his wife and the end of the comp. Looks like all show to me.

He was really nice when we got a brief chance to see in at the Jack. I am quite sure that each of the contestants has their own special "role" to play. Bad guy, pretty lady, dumb young gun, nice guy veteran, couple guys with WSM's, etc...

I was surprised not to see Paul in the second episode and Tuffy was in the cooks meeting but not shown after that. I think the next episode where Paul uses the muffin tin is hilarious! Myron shouldn't have shown it on national tv if he didn't want people to try it.

Myron don't give a rats arse who uses a muffin pan, he is the godfather of BBQ.
Picked up a couple interesting tidbits as far as cooking but not overly impressed with the way they portray us comp teams.
The reason i got into this sport was the comraditie and fellowship of my other bbq brothers! (and sisters). I know its gotta have something to make it interesting for TV but all the non BBQ people i have spoke with think thats how we really roll. :(

Paul is a DB and was brought on to play the part. Tuffy is a great guy but semi boring. Harry Soo using a stoker on a WSM is like putting **** on a bull.
Johnny Trigg is just as i expected and Myron i think actually makes the show.

Hoping they film up north next year as i'm sure we could show them some great made for TV entertainment! Maybe we can get Scott to do a demo on his famous rib toss.
