This odd lookin creature is always eying me at night while I am messing with the cooker. It is to small for a squirrel but to big for a mouse.
It also never shows its self during the day.
Anybody know what it is?

looks like a chinchilla, could have been someones pet, kinda looks like a flying squirrel too.
It will probably cook up just fine. :)

I was cooking a couple of butts Sat night and every time I went outside two of these suckers were in that tree staring me down. It was kind of creepy.
I will do a little research on the flying squirrel but I have never heard of a squirrel only coming out at night.
EDIT: I just googled flying squirrel pics, and I think you might be right. Flying squirrel pic from the net.

Yep, its a flying squirrel. Now you have to figure out a way to make them fly into your pit. Wrapped in bacon they will become tasty little morsels.

Yes - I do see what you mean. But I think Scott is right. I don't feel so creeped out now that I know they are squirrels.
Before I took the pics I thought they were some nasty mouse and I was going to bust out my little Red Ryder BB gun with the compass in the stock to take it out.
