The events committee will now be accepting recommendations for facilities to hold (2) Senior Q events in October, 2012.
Before submitting your request, please contact the facility, most likely the events coordinator and inform them that we will prepare pulled pork, chicken, beans and slaw.
From the facility, we will need access to the kitchen area and staff to serve the food unless they have a "food line" set up that the clients come up and get their own. The facility would be responsible for dinner ware and drinks.
Preferably, 250 clients or less to feed will help us manage since we do not know how many association volunteers will be available to help.
As far as a date or day, that's kind of a hard one, again because of the availability of volunteers so Fri or Saturday would be my first choice.
You will find out that your contact person most likely will have to present the idea to a board or supervisor and will take some time to get back with you so that's why I am posting this now.
Currently we have (2) suggestions, one in Westland and one in Frankenmuth.

Thanks for the help,

Scott

If you don't get anybody to step up, I would be more than happy to do it again at the home in Grand Rapids.

Most likely will take suggestions until the August board meeting then the board will make a decision.

Thanks

OK,
after sorting through all of the potential recommendations submitted by the membership,... both of them,... this years Senior Q will be held in Frankenmuth and in Grand Rapids.
Rich, if you would like to take charge with arrangements there and let us know the date certain, Dick will be given the lead for arrangements at the Frankenmuth facility.
Thanks to both of you for stepping up, hopefully we will get some of the membership to lend a hand when the time comes. The only real stipulation is that it has to be held in October.

I was able to lock in October 27 at Porter Hills here in Grand Rapids. If you would like to volunteer please post here. We will need a total of 6 or so to help pull along with mingling with the seniors.

Just bumping this up as a reminder, there are (2) GLBBQA sponsored SR. Q. events being held in the next few weeks, one in Frankenmuth on Friday, October 12 and the other in Grand Rapids on Saturday, October 27.
Rich Parker is the site coordinator for Grand Rapids, Dick Boudrow is the site coordinator for Frankenmuth, both are still in need of volunteers to help out.
Please do not wait for them to contact you, contact them so they know that you will be there to help.
I believe Rich has 1 volunteer and Dick has 3 or 4, only 1 of which is not a board member. It would be nice to see some general membership participation.
