Some tentative information I wanted to get out to the membership. The events committee is working with the Bay Valley Resort and Conference Center in Bay City to hold our winter get together and awards banquet. (www.bayvalley.com)
The date we are looking at is Saturday, January 21, 2012, time: TBA
They will prepare a Signature Dinner Buffet with (3) entrees consisting of
Chicken Supreme (seared chix breast topped w/bacon & onion cream sauce),
London Broil (marinated steak grilled to perfection served w/burgandy wine sauce) and Baked Salmon (seasoned w/ dill & white wine).
Also included are coffee, tea, soda, dinner rolls, garden salad, a fresh fruit display, two accompaniments consisting of green bean almondine and garlic roasted herb redskin potato's. Dessert consists of assorted cakes and tortes.

A cash bar will be available.

TENTATIVELY, the cost will be $ 25.99 per person and does not include tax and tip.

The resort has a bar that has either a D.J. or live band on the weekends. They have agreed to discount their $ 99.00 King or Double Queen rooms for a cost to our members of $65.00!! I believe they have a breakfast buffet on Sunday mornings also.

HERES THE REALLY IMPORTANT PART:
DINNERS MUST BE PRE-PAID IN ADVANCE. Once things get locked in, I will need you to send a check to me for your MEAL(S) ONLY. There will be an official cut off date most likely around January 1.

I would like to start trying to get a head count so if you are interested, indicate on a thread.

Thanks a bunch, this has a potential of being alot of fun.
Scott

I'm sure that "The Mayor" will want to attend, she likes these kind of gala affairs. She may have to go out and buy a new purse for the event.

Will security be available? She's fond of the whiskey drinking type of retired peace officer.

Put us down as a probably in, kinda, rather, sort-a. I'll firm that up later, when "The Mayors" people get back to me.

Keep the messages coming and also if you are planning on spending the night, that way I can give them an idea on how many rooms we may need. Deb and I are staying.

That purse will be old by January, she will need to buy another one.

I'm sure that a woman in her position, has a new purse that hasn't had a coming out date yet. I'm off to go check the closet.

Unfortunately that is the same night as our year end gala for the Grand Rapids Jaycees, and most of our team members will be receiving awards or being sworn in to the new Board of Directors. So John & I will not be able to attend the GLBBQA year end. Really bummed about this.

If the date (of either event) moves...but until then, we are planning to hit the annual meeting in March...so get me the date so I can lock it in.

Bumping this back up, apparently some of the members did not originally see it and are asking about it.

Thanks

UPDATE:
Just got word from the resort that the new owners will continue business as usual so the event is moving forward.
We are awaiting the contract to review and approve at which time I will have the necessary info for our members to reserve their spots and their rooms.
A reminder that the date is Saturday, January 21, 2012.

Thanks

That's what we used, along with red ones, when I was stationed at K.I. Siberia (Sawyer) AFB, in the U.P. There was 2 feet of snow and the "hole" was a 10 ft diameter circle painted on the snow. Just hit the tennis ball (with gold clubs) in the painted area. Problem was, hitting after 50 or so guys, there were lots of "ball landings" (holes) in the snow and you didnt know which hole to look in. Needless to say, a round took many a wobbly pops to finish :D

Always seemed there were a lot more holes in the snow than when we started once we reached the 14th or 15th hole

I'm hoping to be there. Will know by mid Dec.

I am supposed to have the contract in hand by the end of the week to present to the BOD at the meeting next Sunday for review.
As soon as we get the "all ok", I will get the room reservation info and payment info posted.

Thanks
Scott
