View Full Version : Community Grill Monroe

We have been kicking around the idea of a "community grill" event at the Monroe contest. Basic idea is Mike Terry brings his Weber Ranch Kettle, Everyone brings a dish to pass, and their own protein, which will be their duty to cook. This way each team can bring their own favorite steak, chicken, pork, or seafood, may even be room for a veggie or two:rolleyes:

Still trying to refine and develop this idea so your input is appreciated. If anyone sees an obvious flaw in the plan let me know or if you have an event grill that you would be willing to lug along that would be great too. GLBBQA to provide the coal you supply your own drinks, plates, and dinnerware.

Need someone to check with the organizer to see if the judges tent or some other area can be utilized. Of course they are invited as well as all contestants, member or not. We will need e-mail addresses of the teams currently signed up to invite everyone.

I will start the sign up for dish to pass;

Extreme Roasters. Brisket risotto:cool:

Dang, 2 post's in one day!
My chicken get's passed over all the time, no sense brutalizing the membership.
I was thinking something more on the line of grilled chicken gizzards with sauteed onions and peppers.

Rubbed smoked and sauced, grilled chicken gizzards with sauteed onions and peppers. and a bottle of single barrel to pass.

That is it to date so it looks like: couple sides, dessert, huge man size prime meat cuts. seems like we are all set:cool::cool:

I think people judging and cooks should be encouraged to hang out with each other on Friday night, so i don't see why anyone would mind. Looking forward to seeing you! Bring your partner so i can try and get some recipes. ;)

I would have to say that the Friday night community dinner was a huge success. It is was a great opportunity to get to know new teams and continue to build the association. Great food, Great friends, and Great fellowship!!! Thanks should be given out to Troy for organizing the event. Troy can do something besides cook? LOL You learn something new everyday. Thanks again Troy for organizing and looking forward to the community event at Silver Lake.

At a special board of directors meeting that very night the event was officially declared a success. :p The definition of bbq to me will always be " food eaten outdoors with friends" thanks to all who participated and to Mike Terry for lugging that huge A$$ weber for us all to char our meat on. Also thanks to the Ladies auxilliary for set-up and clean-up.
