As many of you know the city of Joplin, MO was devastated by a tornado, taking the lives of over 120 people and leaving thousands homeless.
Jeff Stith from Big Creek BBQ in conjunction with KookersKare have formed Operation BBQ Relief Joplin. BBQ cookers and volunteers from across the country are descending on Joplin to cook BBQ meals for the thousands of people who really don't know where there next meal is coming from. They will be in Joplin starting today through next Tuesday.
President Mike Terry thought it would be a great idea if the GLBBQA made a cash donation to the cause. He ran the idea past the Board of Directors and we thought it was a great idea.
So today a $200 donation in the name of the GLBBQA was sent to Operation BBQ Relief Joplin. Hopefully, it will be put to good use and we can at least feel good about doing our small part in helping the residents of Joplin.
I want to thank Mike for the great idea and I particularly want to thank Jeff Stith and KookersKare for their tireless efforts in Joplin.
