A couple of weeks ago I finally bought a temp gauge with two probes.

Maverick Remote-Check Wireless Thermometer With 2 Probes (http://www.amazon.com/Maverick-Remote-Check-Wireless-Thermometer-Probes/dp/B00004SZ10/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1252254516&sr=8-2)

I pulled it out this morning after I put on a couple of butts on the UDS, so I could try out both probes. The pit probe was pretty stable around 230 and then once in a while it would flash 255 and then 280. It only did that once in a great while and then would flash back to the right temp. The probe is in a wood block so it isn't touching anything.

Any ideas??

My cheapo CDN temp gauge never flashed weird temps like that.

Guard dogs after they knocked the lid off of my new Corona OTS CL score.

Just boil up some water and stick them both in, should read, what the hell should it read, water boils at 210 I think. AHHHHHHH!

I did the math and 210 deg is correct providing that the barametric preasure is 29.92 and the elevation is exactly 1168 feet above sea level. There are always variables to skew that can make any statement seem intelligent.;)

I don't think the temp reading is out of calibration but more of a blip in the digital piece for flashing the different numbers. One time it flashed 560 degrees, which I know probably isn't possible in the UDS.

After about 4 - 5 hours, I didn't notice it anymore so maybe it just needed to warm up. :D

I was just wondering if others had the same issue.

Check your battery. Did you use the battery that came with the unit ? If so the package may have been sitting on the shelf for a while... I have that problem with my Taylor when the battery is dieing out...

Good idea! I will replace the battery in both units.
