Was over on that side of the state today so I took a 20 min. detour to check out Bubba at the RSS mobile location. conveniently located at the intersections of Gratiot ave. and 26 mile.
I pulled in around 10:30 and Steve had things well in hand. The cooker was cruising along nicely and when I peeked inside it was loaded with an assortment of BBQ delicacies. Ribs brisket butts rib tips and smoked bologna.
At 11:00 sharp the traffic started to roll in. I could see the time for chatting was over and ordered a "gut buster" A bit of everything to go. As if this was not enough i knew I just had to try the smoked bologna, so I got one of those as well.
The smoked bologna is served sandwich style on a bakery fresh bun with Jalapeņo cheese, onion, and a honey mustard sauce. This is a nice thick (1/3rd + #er) slice of bologna rubbed and smoked up fresh from the pit. I have eaten a lot of bologna and this was one of the finest ways to prepare and serve bologna out there. Worth the added 20 min detour alone.
On to the gut buster. Beans, slaw, pulled pork, brisket, ribs. I can review this entire selection in two words: Moist and Delicious. Well seasoned with just the right amount of smoke, If I had a loaf of bread I could have made sandwiches to serve a family of four.
The truth is the best Q is waiting for you at the side of the road.
I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars (food rated 5 stars but I deducted .5 due to the fact that the wait staff was so darn ugly)
