Got a call from Jeff yesterday (organizer for the silver lake event) he says they have 28 teams "in the Bank" and a few more commitments also the judges class is up to 58 WOW can ou say 100% certified:)
This is a top notch, cook friendly contest and is the hands down favorite of many teams thanks to the tireless efforts of Jeff. When you see him there be sure to thank him for his efforts.

Also ??is this thing on?? lets get some chatter goin here :p

Sounds like the numbers for the judges class and the event will be excellent. Sorry I won't be able to attend either. Gotta work but will at least have the opportunity to hang with Slowburn Steve and help him vend later in the day on Saturday.

Well, I do want to make this event sometime, but they decided to put 2 screws in my ankle, and I won't even have a chance of getting the cast off for 3 weeks min., and could be another 2 or so. So I guess it'll be next year.
Good luck to all tho!

This is the first one I have to miss. Not because of anything that Jeff and crew did, as they are some of the hardest working organizers out there. I have an opportunity to go to West Virginia and it will be another state checked off my list...
Have fun up there! Hoping Jim comes out of retirement and goes for number 4 in a row...

As an organizer, I can tell you that Jeff is a great guy to work with. I had hoped that we would get to Mears to judge or cook this weekend, but the schedule didn't work out. Glad to hear there is such a great turn out for the judges class. Wish we could do as well up here in the UP. Good luck to all this weekend. If any of you think of it, please give my regards to Jeff.

I was at the judges class last night. I got there 45 minutes early and the whole parking lot was full. They started the class at 5:30 PM and it was over about 10PM. I think they ended up with around 60 participants.
Mike Lake was an excellent teacher and Dr. Chuckie cooked some excellent Q. I think that was one of the best briskets I have ever tasted.
I just spoke with Jeff and he said he is going to need 42 judges and 6 table captains and that he has 44 judges planning on being there.
Sounds like a fun event.
