Something aint kosher in the state of Michigan .........................At the awards dinner, Rich said Mt Morris is in Jun this year. He even showed the KCBS Jun schedule to us. Yup, it says its in Jun. But, go to the web site, it shows the fair is 15-21 August, with KCBS awards that Saturday at 4:00pm (look under schedule of events for Sat). Gotta be a mistake, I hope.

I'm so confused ........
They applied to the KCBS for a date change and it was voted upon and approved.

I will check with the Organizer later today or Monday... That puts a big crimp in my plans, I already have committed to an event on Jun 17th...

Many thx Ford. Me thinks its gonna be an "either - or" for us. Auburn Hills or Mt Morris.

So if its not during the fair, what is it going to be in conjuction with?
Why would they change the date and risk losing so many teams? I personally would rather do Mt. Morris as they have always been good to us but AH is sort of my home comp. :(

Yeah, too bad they didn't think to check with us or too bad the KCBS didn't notice two Michigan comps 40 miles apart on the same date. I know I have read they wouldn't sanction or approve date changes for events in other states when they coincide with an existing comp.

You know with all the new comps around people are just going to have to make that hard decision on where to compete and you just can't make everybody happy.
Maybe we can ask Mt. Morris organizers to hold a poll...RFLMAO!!! :D:D:D

Can't take any of the credit Dan, I didn't really have anything to do with it. That way I can't get blamed if it goes south:D:D:D

Ok, I got some information from Mr Bourdeau who spoke to Matt Stimac who spoke to the organizer.
The reason for the move is to have a BBQ weekend and focus only on BBQ. There will be vendors and bands and a beer tent. So we (the comp cookers) will probably have more room than we have had. I am still trying to get some more info and will post it as I get it.

Ok here is the official word from Chris the organizer:
Michael,
We are moving the date away from the Fair so that we can provide BBQ Vendor
opportunities for the benefit of the competitors and public; and to make the
competition self-sustaining through sponsorship, as the only previous
revenue source was entry fees that the teams paid. There will be a Beer
Tent and other facets to the event. The Official Facebook Page is located
at

Please spread the word, and let me know if you know of any sponsors that
support BBQ Competitions.
Thanks,
Chris
