Packers or flats ? IF you are looking just for flats Sam's Club or Costco is going to be your best bet. Restaurant Depot is probably the cheapest but you have to have a business to get in there...

Well I don't know if they are the "best prices" is SE Michigan, but Sam's Club usually has it for just over $2/lb (Flats only around here) and Restaurant Depot usually has Superior Angus Beef brisket for $2.04/lb full packer and has USDA choice full packers for usually just under $2/lb.
Walmart carries USDA Select grade full packers for less per pound, just not exactly sure of the amount, haven't been there lately.

Thanks Fellas, Restaurant Depot it is - looking for packers.... First time I went there, my initial thought was... "This is the place Costco wants to be when it groes up".
As much as I like visiting Walmart and Sams Club to study human behavior and watch the show, I detest giving them my money.... :D

I'll have to come to the east side to do my shopping from now on. Sam's here, choice flats only well over $3/lb. Walmart select packers$2.48/lb yesterday. Choice packers local source upwards of $3/lb.

I agree! But not the briskies!!!!. Kroger had some pitiful looking choice "packers" for $2.99/lb. Wallyworld has some choice packers (with whip marks still on them) for around $2.25/lb. Usually though, Costco (when they have them), VG's, and Krogers have flats for around $3.99/lb.
That's why I dont do brisket very often!

I generally get my meat at Cattleman's in Taylor (Telegraph south of Goddard).
They have a weekly sale sheet and the briskets get down to $1.99 for packers. Good selection of Pork and all other things meat in their walk in freezer.
What kind of business is necessary to get into Restaurant Depot? My wife has registered her video transfer business. Do I have to pretend we do something food related, or is a Michigan business license all that is required?

Yeah I never buy briskies from Krogers or anywhere like that. Sam's or RD for me. Occasionally I will buy one from Wally's, they actually dont turn out too bad...

KCBS members are already members at the RD.
Just go to the front desk and get a day pass as needed.
It's a shame that place is only 4 miles from where I work.
I've wasted many a lunch hour there just walking around.

I spent 24.00 at my local butcher for a 4 almost a 5 pound brisket flat.
I don't know if it's actually that weight but it feels heavier then that.

I get mine usually from Restaurant Depot. They have a good selection of loose 10-20lbers in either Choice or the Black Angus brand they carry...Usually under $2 on sale.
If you ever go to the Eastern market, I have bought some nice briskets and other meat from Fairway Packing (Erskine St.). They are mostly wholesale, but you can buy retail as a walk-in customer or call ahead an order.
If any of you have ever had a Piedmontese Beef Burger from the Redcoat Tavern, you have had Fairway's meat. They sell the Piedmontese Beef (Low Fat, High in Omega 3's) for ~$3.00/lb in a 5lb bag fresh. They also supply Hunter House Hamburgers (Slider place on Woodward). Saturday hours until 11:30 or so...They grill up really nice and are a lot cheaper than the $10/burger you will pay at a Restaurant!!
