Got a call yesterday from the Renaissance Festival. They have scheduled their 2nd annual BBQ contest for Saturday and Sunday September 19-20. Supposed to send me the specifics but said it will be a Competition/Vending event. Contestants enter a meat and side dish and there will be celebrity judging as well as judging by the public via ballot box.
You will be able to sell to the public but must obtain the necessary health dept license.
Don't have an entry fee yet, will post all the info when I get it, just wanted to get the date out there.
For those who don't know this thing runs for 6 weeks and there are literally thousands of people who attend on the weekends.

Hey Mr. Scott, is this the Renaissance Festival that takes place in "Hollyshire" south of Grand Blanc or near Mount Holly Ski area? If so, I'm definitely setting my calendar to remind me to attend that weekend.

Got an email from them saying as of right now, they have two confirmed and 5 non-confirmed entries. Anyone from here interested? The venue is great, just the comp itself I think needs a little tweaking. Hopefully we can get together with them over the winter and set something up really nice for next year.

Troy,
I'm pretty sure last year there was prize money and in fact the 1st place team got a trip to Florida to vend at the Festival down there in the Tampa area I think. They move from Holly in the fall to Florida in the winter.
I'll send a email to her to see what the prize is this year.
